A career educator, Ray has over 15 years of experience in adult education as a corporate training specialist, and childhood education as an after-school program facilitator. Ray was first introduced to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2008 by Shaun Robinson, and then Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in 2014 by Marc Marins.
Inspired by the living examples of his first two Instructors, Ray underwent and successfully completed the Gracie University Instructor Certification Program in July 2016 under the guidance and live evaluation of Ryron and Rener Gracie in Torrance, California.
In 2018, Ray began to pursue a career teaching Jiu-Jitsu as a full-time Instructor at North Vancouver Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Today, with direct support and tutelage from Ryron and Rener Gracie, Ray is the Head Instructor of Tri-Cities Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, an officially Certified Training Center (CTC) of Gracie University that remains committed to the mission of ensuring Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone.

December 2008 – White Belt awarded by Shaun Robinson.
January 2016 – Blue Belt awarded by Marc Marins and Shaun Robinson.
July 2016 – Instructor Certification awarded by Ryron and Rener Gracie.
October 2018 – Purple Belt awarded by Ryron Gracie and Marc Marins.
July 2019 - Instructor Bars awarded by Ryron and Rener Gracie.
July 2022 - Brown Belt awarded by Ryron and Rener Gracie.
